Quick start
- Add PinPal to your server.
- Run
/setupand click New pin. - Click Write message, choose Text or Embed, write it and press Submit.
- Pick one or more channels in Choose channels….
- Press Save. The pin posts straight away and comes back to the bottom after new messages.

Permissions
In every channel with a pin, PinPal needs:
- View Channel and Read Message History, to notice new messages.
- Send Messages and Embed Links, to post the pin and its buttons.
- Manage Webhooks, only for Premium pins with a custom name and avatar (they post through a webhook).
For threads, PinPal also needs Send Messages in Threads. PinPal only deletes its own messages, so it never needs Manage Messages.

The pin editor
Opening a pin (or clicking New pin) shows the editor. It has everything on one screen:
- Message: write a text or embed message. On Premium, Add another message turns it into a rotating pin.
- Channels: up to 25 channels or threads. Picking a channel that already has a pin asks before replacing it.
- Repost timing, Link buttons, Name and avatar and Expiry.
- Save, Preview (see it privately first), Export (preset or share code), Delete and Back.
Repost timing
After someone sends a message, PinPal waits for the delay, then reposts the pin and deletes the old copy. If more messages arrive while it waits, it waits for chat to settle, so a busy channel gets one repost instead of dozens.
- Free: a delay of 1 to 15 seconds.
- Premium: a wait time of up to 30 minutes, or a message count (repost after every 20 messages, up to 500), or both together.
Text, embeds & buttons
Text messages work like normal Discord messages: Markdown, emoji, mentions and up to 2,000 characters. Pins never ping anyone, even if they contain @everyone or role mentions.
Embeds have a title (256 characters), a description (4,000), a footer (2,048) and a colour, like #EDC0D1. Discord allows 6,000 characters per embed in total.
Link buttons: up to 20 per pin. In the editor click Edit and write one per line:

Variables Premium
Variables are filled in every time the pin posts. Dates and times use the timezone set in /server.

Premium features
- Rotating messages: up to 10 messages per pin, shown one per repost, in order or at random.
- Custom name and avatar: the pin posts through a webhook with your own name and picture. Upload a PNG, JPG, GIF or WebP up to 2 MB, or paste a Discord image link (fastest).
- Variables, message-count reposting, delays up to 30 minutes and pin expiry (a pin removes itself after up to 12 months).
- More room: 250 pins and 50 presets.

Presets & share codes
In the editor, Export gives two options:
- Save as preset keeps the pin's settings in this server. Start a new pin from it with
/setup→ Presets. Free servers keep 3 presets, Premium keeps 50. - Create share code makes a code anyone can import in their own server with
/setup→ Import. Codes last a year. See and delete yours with/personal.
Channels are never included, and avatars aren't copied. The imported pin keeps the name, so you can add a picture yourself.
Create Pin from a message
Right-click any message (or long-press on mobile), choose Apps → Create Pin. PinPal copies its text or embed into a new pin for that channel. Review it and press Save.
Server settings
/server is for people with Manage Server:
- Pin managers: choose a role whose members can use
/setupand Create Pin without Manage Server. - Timezone: used by
{date}and{time}. Use a name likeEurope/London. - Plan: pins and presets used, with a link to Premium.
- Delete server data: delete all pins, all presets, or everything. Premium subscriptions aren't affected.

Servers that had more than 10 pins before the limit existed keep all of them running. They just can't add new ones or edit until they're at 10 or upgrade.
About this pin (🔍)
Pins show a 🔍 button. It tells members the pin was written by the server, not by PinPal, and how to spot and report scams. This protects your members from anyone trying to impersonate PinPal or another bot.
Servers can ask to remove the 🔍 button from a pin in our support server. Pins with a custom name or rotating messages always keep it, and if a pin's content changes, the button comes back.
Troubleshooting
Start with /debug in the channel. It checks the pin, PinPal's permissions and recent errors, and can clear out data for channels that no longer exist.
- The pin doesn't post: check View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links and Read Message History in that channel (and Send Messages in Threads for threads).
- Custom name doesn't show: give PinPal Manage Webhooks in that channel, then save the pin again.
- "This pin is paused": a free server has more than 10 pins, so the newest ones wait. Delete some, or upgrade.
- A pin lost its custom look or rotation: Premium ended. Pins keep posting their first message as PinPal with the free timing until Premium is back. Nothing is deleted.
- Variables show as typed: they're filled in on Premium only.
- Can't use /setup: you need Manage Server or the pin manager role set in
/server.

FAQ
Why isn't my pin reposting?
Run /debug in the channel. The most common causes are missing permissions (View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History), a pin paused because a free server has more than 10 pins, or a repost delay longer than you expected.
Can I have more than one pin in a channel?
Each channel has one pin. On Premium, that pin can rotate between up to 10 messages, which covers most reasons to want several.
Who can use /setup?
Anyone with the Manage Server permission, plus members with the pin manager role you choose in /server.
Do variables work on the free plan?
You can type them on any plan, but they're only filled in on Premium. On the free plan they show exactly as typed.
What happens to my pins if Premium ends?
Nothing is deleted. Pins keep posting their first message as PinPal with free timing, and pins over the free limit of 10 pause (your oldest keep running). Everything comes back as it was if you subscribe again.
